Contrary to its name there is nothing common about this kingfisher. With its bright plumage the small bird is quite a sight around our pond! And even though I don’t like that they are hunting for my goldfish I can’t help but be amazed by the iridescent blue, turquoise and orange coat. I pushed a stick into the bank of the pond so it can forage from a spot I can easily see from my desk.
